Chennai is the capital of Tamil Nadu.
Chennai is one of the four Metros of India, located on the north east of Tamil Nadu State.
Chennai was known as Madras, prior to the renaming in the year 1996..
In addition to Tamil, other Indian languages like Telugu and Malayalam, Hindi are widely spoken and understood.
Historical reference date back to 1522 AD, when Santhome area was colonized by the Portugese Establishment of Madras and growth of settlement has taken shape over several years.Cooum and Adyar rivers run through Chennai.
Chennai is divided into North Chennai, South Chennai, Central Chennai and west Chennai.
Expansion and growth of Industrial and Business Process Outsourcing activity is taking place in many areas. Significant development has taken place on the Rajiv Gandhi salai in what is called as the IT Corridor, Phase I starting from Madhya Kailash to siruseri , about 20Kms. Further,areas like Ambattur also witnessed Growth in the recent years.
Several industries, business enterprises, hospitals, educational institutions, banks, philosophical institutions and NGO`s are located in Chennai. Chennai is well connected with other parts of the globe by Sea and Air.
